Name your favorite Russian fashion designer(s). Whose name is not Gosha (Rubchinskiy). This is not a test, but an opportunity to expand your fashion horizons and globalize your style. The International Fashion Showcase co-presented by the British Fashion Council and Mercedes-Benz is responsible for introducing 450 designers from 57 countries to international audiences. For its sixth UK presentation in conjunction with London Fashion Week, Russian Federation is set to make its IFS debut at the Somerset House on February 17-21, 2017. Get your free tickets here.
For many people, fashion week provides a form of escapism, for designers it’s a make it or break it time to impress the critics and buyers. For new Russian brands IFS is a one-of-a-kind chance to be seen by global fashion insiders.
“Russia gets a great opportunity to demonstrate its creative potential and present our cultural heritage along with the actual fashion trends at the international level,” says Alexander Shumsky, Executive President of the Russian Fashion Council and President of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia.
Six labels will vie for Moscow’s claim to style fame: Artem Shumov, ZA_ZA, NAIDAL, Saint-Tokyo, TURBO YULIA and Lumier Garson. For them, Russia is not just a home-base but a muse. According to Shumsky, “folk artistic crafts are inspiring the new generation of Russian designers promoting national identification and forming a new take on the contemporary Russian fashion.” Designers Artem Shumov and Saint-Tokyo were previously featured on DEPESHA. A venue fitting for a project of such grand stature, the historic 450-year-old Somerset House is a perfect backdrop for fashion’s brightest. It offers a pleasant dichotomy between the modern day and the past reminding of the ties that bind us whether they’re figurative or literal. As part of the buy-now initiative within the industry, all garments presented at IFS will be available for purchase online exclusively at thenandnowshop.com.
Each of the selected designers will present their full latest collections during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia taking place March 12-17, 2017 in Moscow: ZA_ZA on March 13, Saint-Tokyo and Lumier Garson on March 15 and Artem Shumov on March 16.
