Good things come for those who wait! Russian fashion industry has surely waited long enough to begin receiving the most prominent international accolades that it truly deserves, fashion film including. Russia based avant-garde collective OUTLAW founded by Maksim Bashkaev and Di Minrakhmanova has won Nick Knight’s Showstudio inaugural Fashion Film Awards. Bravo!
Film director Ilya Petrov turned global heads, with help of stylist Ivan Novak and producer Natalia Solovieva, in a short where Moscow itself took the front stage. The ever watchful eye of the Russian police made the shooting on various locations that much more exciting, if not dangerous. Thankfully, no fashionista was sent to Siberia, as it is very cold there right now!
Nick Knight comprised one-of-a-kind panel of judges, including iconic Daphne Guiness (whom DEPESHA exclusively interviewed), Diesel’s artistic director Nicola Formichetti (whom we partnered to launch eponymous pop-up store in NYC), fashion design aka enfant terrible Gareth Pugh, and film-maker Ruth Hogben.
